Migrating from other apps via CSV Import

If you’ve been using another app to manage your video game collection, you can easily move your library to Game Tracker using a CSV file. Follow these steps to complete the import process.

1. Export your library as a CSV file

From your current app, export your game library in CSV format. Most tracking apps include an export option within their settings or library section.

Once the export is complete, save the CSV file to your device so it’s accessible from Game Tracker.

2. Import your CSV file into Game Tracker

  1. Open Game Tracker on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
  2. Go to Settings › Import.
  3. In the Import type section, select Other.
  4. Choose the CSV file you exported from your previous app.

After selecting the file, Game Tracker will guide you through a simple mapping process where you can match each column from your CSV file to the corresponding metadata fields used in the app.

3. Using the IGDB ID for automatic data completion

If your CSV file includes an IGDB ID column (a unique identifier for each game in the IGDB database) and you map it to the corresponding field, Game Tracker will automatically fetch all details about each game, including cover art, release date, and more.

If the IGDB ID is not included or not mapped, the app will only import the information available in your CSV file.

4. Supported formats and naming conventions

To successfully import the fields User PlatformsFormats, and Release Status, you must follow a specific naming convention for these values.

You can find all the details on how to correctly format these fields in this guide:

5. Final check

Once the import is complete, review your library to ensure all your games appear correctly. You can always edit or update any missing details manually within the app.
