This page has two halves, and most people need the second one.

Column names is what Game Tracker looks for when it tries to work out your file on its
own. You never have to rename a column: if a name is not on the list, you point at it
yourself on the matching screen.

Values is what those columns should contain. This is where an import quietly loses
things: a column matched correctly but filled with a word Game Tracker cannot place. Three
fields care about this, and they are listed below with everything they accept.

Only one thing is required anywhere: a row has to name a game, by its title or by its
IGDB ID. Every other field can be left out.

Part 1. Column names

If your column is called any of these, Game Tracker matches it for you. Names in Italian,
Spanish, French and German are recognized too.

Release status

Write the status in the left column, or anything in the right one.

Capitals, spaces, hyphens, underscores and accents make no difference: Early Access,
early-access and EARLY_ACCESS are the same value.

A word that is not on this list is shown to you on the review screen before you import,
with the row it came from. The row still comes in; only that field is left empty.

One game can hold several formats. Separate them with a comma or a semicolon inside the
cell: physical, digital.

As with release status, an unrecognized word is shown to you on the review screen rather
than dropped.

Platforms

Write the platform’s name as the catalog knows it, or its short name. Both of these
work:

Capitals and spacing do not matter here either: playstation 4 is fine.

The full list is on IGDB, the catalog Game Tracker
takes its platforms from. If a platform of yours is not coming through, look it up there
and copy the name as it is written.

Several platforms go in one cell, separated by a comma or a semicolon:
"PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch". Quote the cell if you use commas, or your spreadsheet
will read it as two columns.

A platform Game Tracker cannot place is named in the summary at the end, not on the
review screen. The game comes in without it, and you can add it on the game’s page.

Your rating

Write ratings on whatever scale your old app used. Game Tracker reads the whole file
first, then converts:

Game Tracker keeps ratings out of 100.

This can go wrong in one way. A file rated out of 10 in which nobody ever gave more
than a 5 is read as out of 5, because nothing in the file says otherwise. If that is your
file, multiply the column by 10 before importing, or write one 10 somewhere.

The external rating column works the same way, on its own scale: a critics’ score out
of 100 next to your own score out of 5 is read correctly.

Progress

A whole number from 0 to 100, meaning percent complete.

There are two progress fields, story and overall. Fill in either or both.

Dates

Nearly any common shape works, including 2024-03-11, 11/03/2024, March 11, 2024,
11.03.2024, 2024, and dates written with the month in words in Italian, French, German
or Spanish. Times are ignored.

Ambiguous dates like 3/6/2024 are settled for the whole file at once, not row by row,
so a file that clearly uses day-first everywhere is read day-first everywhere.

Lists inside one cell

Platforms, formats and tags can hold several values in one cell, separated by a comma or
a semicolon:

Quote any cell that contains a comma, or your spreadsheet will split it into columns.

Fields with no rules

These take whatever text you write, and Game Tracker creates whatever it does not have yet:

Tags are created if they do not exist.
Location, Shelving and Shelf are the physical place a copy lives: a room, a
bookcase in it, a shelf in that. Each is created if it does not exist.
Price paid is kept as you wrote it, currency symbol and all.
Review and Summary are free text.
Cover, Artwork and Screenshots take web addresses. Cover holds one; the other
two hold as many as you like, separated by commas.

A cover from your file is used for a game the catalog does not have. A game the catalog
does have gets the catalog’s own cover, which is usually the better one.

Row two carries an IGDB ID, so it comes back complete from the catalog. Row three has no
ID and a title the catalog knows, so it is matched by title. Row four is a game nobody has
heard of: it comes in as your own game, exactly as written.

If a value did not come across

A status or format that was not understood is listed on the review screen, before the
import runs. Look there first.
A platform that was not matched is listed in the summary at the end.
A whole column that came across empty was probably never matched on the matching
screen. Import again and check that line.
